The On On holds the distinction of being the first hotel in Phuket. This renovation project was therefore undertaken with profound respect for its history and a commitment to conveying the narrative of the old town to future generations.
The interior design was conceived under the concept of “The Living Museum,” creating a display of living history. It showcases various aspects of life from the hotel’s founding era, including themes like marriage and coupled life, local gentry (tycoons), travelers, and various craftsmen. Notably, the project included the restoration and decoration of the special room once used for filming the movie The Beach.
The exterior work involved meticulously restoring the building’s façade to its original perfect condition using old-era construction techniques. Strategic nighttime lighting is now utilized to enhance the building, cementing its status as a vital landmark within the Phuket Old Town area.
